Happy 40th Rocky Horror!

Sorry, I am terribly sorry about that but, old habits die hard…especially when you have seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show as many times as I have. I actually first saw Rocky Horror when I was about five years old. My mom only let me watch the first four numbers up until Sweet Transvestite before cutting it off. Funny story about what I decided to teach my first grade class during Show and Tell…

So, what exactly is the Rocky Horror Show?

A recently engaged couple – Brad Majors and Janet Weiss – decide to pay a visit to their former professor, Dr. Everett Von Scott. Along the way to see their friend, the couple sport a flat tire in the middle of nowhere. But hey, castles have phones and as luck would have it, they passed one up. Tsk, tsk…a word of caution kids – castles don’t have phones! Suffice to say that the night is full of surprises.

On September 25th, this cult classic celebrated it’s 40th anniversary! If you go back and count the play, than it’s about forty two years old. Either way, Rocky Horror is still going strong and shows no sign of slowing down. Quite possibly the best to experience this is by attending a “live” showing of it. Theaters around the country…around the world hold midnight showings of this cult classic. Word of advice though, at least watch it through one time at home before going to see it at your local theater. Another word of wisdom, do not under any circumstances let people know that you are a “virgin”. For the purposes of Rocky Horror, a “virgin” is one who has never ever seen it live. But if you do let it slip, well it has been nice knowing you my friend.
